The Eurasian beaver is a hot topic in reintroductions. Once nearly made globally extinct through the fur trade, its recovery is a conservation success story. Restoring this British native several centuries outside our living memory has been embraced by many as a vital missing component of landscapes, a driver of biodiversity, while others raise concerns over their capacity for change. This talk discusses why beavers are so important and how we can coexist.
Rob Needham has been working directly with beavers in a UK context for over a decade having started as Project Field Officer for the Scottish Beaver Trial.
